Withdraw Paypal to BDO account? What BDO says

Posted on August 18, 2008 by sexyonboard

I am just one of the newest additions to the multiplying Filipino home-based entrepreneurs. Just like any newbie, I remember how anxious I was on how my funds would reach me. I had to browse from forums and blog entries to check whether my Paypal money would go to BDO account.

Fortunately, Paypal is already networked with Philippine banks these days. Though, I tell you not to bother to ask BDO staff or BDO callcenter for they will never give you a great answer. Frustrated enough, I had to email BDO about my concern and here is their official reply:

From:

CALLCENTER (CALLCENTER@bdo.com.ph)

Re: PAYPAL query

Dear Ms. PXXXXXE:

We regret for our late reply due to the si gnificant growth in our email

messages. Please bear with us on the matter but rest assured

that we are finding ways in order to serve you better.

We would like to inform you that we do not have direct partnership with

PayPal. As such, the Bank Code provided in their

website was not i ssued by BDO.

Please be advised that any transactions online, such as online purchases,

online wire transfer using our debit cards are not

availabl e yet on the current features of our ATM Debit card. As such, may

we kindly advise you to use your other major

credit cards for your Paypal transaction.

Should you have other inquiri es or concerns, please feel free to email us

again and we will be happy to assist you.

With this information, I guess BDO does not acknowledge transactions made from Paypal.

Though I have continuously made withdrawals from Paypal to BDO until as of this writing, what BDO is saying is that I cannot run after them if any of my funds from Paypal does not reach my BDO account.

I’ve a nasty experience with my BDO debit card. I tried to purchase a Brainbench online certification which costs 14USD. After entering my debit card details on the payment form and submitting, there was an error in processing transaction. A couple of days later, I found out that the amount of Php695 was deducted from my savings account and was wired to BrainB. I emailed Brainbench customer care and they said no such amount was transferred to them. They said my bank declined the transaction. And yet it clearly reflects on my BDO statement that the amount was wired to Brainbench. And now the mystery still remains: where did my money go?

    -Hi Annika
In any kind of debit card, or credit card, you need to be very Careful. I did not know about this until I came to Thailand. Credit card fraud is very rampant here, so you need to be more vigilant about the use of your Debit Card or Credit Cards anywhere. I used to own a store with a POS terminal for Credit and Debit Cards It was pretty easy to swipe any card on a POS terminal, and pretty easy to make mistakes swiping another card for another one’s transaction. Lesson here? – Keep your eyes wide open when your card is swiped, so that it will not be swiped twice, or swiped on the POS for another one’s transaction.

First question: Do you have a BDO account?
If yes, then you can link your BDO account to your Paypal account so that your money from Paypal will go to your BDO account.

The bank account that you have with BDO serves as the account which Paypal will wiretransfer all your funds. Paypal can wire transfer yoru funds either to a Credit Card or Debit Card. BDO Savings account will have an ATM card with it which also serves as a Debit Card (just like UnionBank’s EON).

The bank code is an information that Paypal will ask you in a dialogue box once you choose to withdraw your funds to your bank account. All Banks will have different bank codes (bank accounts will have their own Paypal Bank codes) which you need to put in the dialogue box that asks for it during the process of registering your BDO bank account with Paypal.

If this is still unclear to you, let me know where you are stuck at.
      All the best!

Instead of choosing credit card option (mastercard or visa), choose bank transfer. It’d prompt you to plug in Bank code…place BDO’s corresponding code. I cannot accurately remember, but it might also ask for Swiss Code…ask BDO for that information.
